Teen Recovery
Program (TRP)

Intensive Outpatient Program
The intent of our Teen Recovery Program (TRP) is to provide comprehensive prevention treatment for adolescents ages 12-19 with alcohol and/or drug dependence in a cost effective outpatient modality.  The TRP program will integrate family therapy, chemical dependency (CD) education and process group to assist the client and family in creating significant change, abstinence and recovery.  Emphasis will be placed on coping skills, self-esteem building, aftercare, age appropriate goals and a healthy and sober lifestyle.

Our TRP program focuses on stabilizing both behavioral and substance use problems, and offers teenagers and their family’s ongoing aftercare services to help maintain positive change in their lives.  The program meets three days per week for 12 weeks. Prior to admission to the TRP, client and family will have an initial assessment/evaluation for program appropriateness.  The approach to TRP is eclectic including CD education and lecture, film, process therapy, workbook material, AA/NA 12-Step orientation, multi-family group, and one-to-one counseling with each client.  Program participation is completely confidential.

Our program is set up in a way that clients may start at any time in the program cycle.  Each TRP client is given an extensive workbook with daily schedules.  We work with your child to set up healthy activities daily taking that stress off of the parents.  After each session, you will be able to see what your child should be doing each day and, more importantly, what they should NOT be doing.  We believe that treatment is a family process and that you should be updated on your child’s progress.

Program Participation Criteria and Outline

The following is what will be expected of each client and family that agrees to participate in the adolescent TRP:

  1. Client and family who have been pre-assessed agree to participate in all program expectations, complete homework assignments and attend all groups.  All clients must sign the TRP admission contract.
  2. In addition to the TRP sessions all clients must attend no less than three (3) outside 12-Step support group meetings per week.  This is a total of six (6) meetings and groups weekly.
  3. Client agrees to remain alcohol/drug free and submit to urine analysis upon counselor request.
  4. Client and family should be free of extenuating circumstances that could distract them or other family members from treatment goals.
  5. Each client will need to call and check in daily with PTS staff.
  6. Weekly schedules will be made and all activities will need to be approved by PTS staff.
  7. Adolescent CD TRP is an alternative to inpatient treatment, residential treatment programs, and in some situations, correctional institutions.  Inability to meet expectations will result in a referral to a more appropriate level of care.  Clients who have more significant mental health or behavioral problems are not appropriate for a TRP level of care and may be referred for primary treatment prior to enrollment or readmission to TRP.
